    Our team members have a wealth of knowledge and expertise with experience in higher education, elementary and secondary education, educational research, and analytics, as well as industry experience in various STEM fields.

    Learty L. (Troy) Shaw, Ph.D.

    Principal Consultant and Founder

    Dr. Troy Shaw is an innovative and energetic educator, researcher, consultant, and project manager with experience in institutional research and effectiveness, assessment and evaluation, research methods, decision support, and continuous improvement planning. In addition to his role at Right Research, Dr. Shaw is also the Senior Research and Decision Support Consultant for the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at Georgia Institute of Technology and a lecturer at Mercer University's Tift College of Education. He is a panelist for National Science Foundation (EHR and SBE), Survey Panelist for the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NSF-NCSES), and a Technical Review Panelist for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Prior to his career in education, Dr. Shaw practiced architecture, which attributes to his STEM background, project management skills, and planning expertise. Dr. Shaw holds a Ph.D. and master's degree from Mercer University and a B.Arch. degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

    H. Justin Ballenger, Ph.D.

    Senior Consultant

    Dr. Ballenger is a STEM education specialist, scientist, researcher, program developer, and strategist with extensive experience in curriculum design, teacher development, assessment and evaluation, program development, and strategic planning. He has served as a grant writer, STEM specialist, classroom teacher, National Science Foundation (N.S.F.) Panelist/Reviewer, AdvancED© (now Cognia) STEM Evaluator, U.S. Department of Education (E.D.) Panelist, HOPE Global Forum delegate, and former executive director of the STEM Education Innovation (S.E.I.) Lab at Mercer University. In addition to his role at Right Research, Dr. Ballenger also serves as Assistant Professor of STEM Education at Morehouse College and Deputy Director of the Atlanta University Center Data Science Center. Dr. Ballenger holds a Ph.D., M.Ed., and B.S. from Clemson University.

    Jeffrey L. Harding, Ph.D.

    Consultant

    Dr. Harding is a former middle school teacher who has since built a career in innovative education practices and policy research. He has worked with educators in more than a dozen states as well as Africa, Asia, and Central America. Harding’s work has focused on school improvement, STEM education, program evaluation, and data analysis. He has facilitated trainings at numerous academic and practitioner-facing conferences both domestically and internationally. Dr. Harding holds a Ph.D. from The University of Georgia, M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University, and a B.A. from Middle Tennessee State University

    Krasandra S. Holmes, Ed.S.

    Consultant

    Mrs. Holmes is an educator with over 20 years of experience in curriculum and instruction, teacher development, leadership development, virtual learning, and technology integration. Her strengths include curriculum design, assessment and evaluation, teacher collaboration, and program development. Mrs. Holmes is a certified trainer in Student Administration Student Information (SASI), Blackboard LMS, GradPoint, Insight (Instructional Management System), Promethean, and Infinite Campus. Mrs. Holmes holds an Ed.S. form Georgia Southern University, and M.S. and B.S. degrees from Georgia State University

    Christal T. McKinley, M.A.

    Project Specialist
    Ms. Christal McKinley is an experienced Teacher with a demonstrated history of working in primary and secondary education. In addition, Christal is skilled in Teacher Leadership, Lesson Planning, Educational Technology, Smartboard, Tutoring, and Classroom Management. She has a strong educational background and holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching, focusing on Middle School Mathematics and Elementary Education, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ms. McKinley also has experience mentoring teachers and leading staff development. She also successfully completed a Gwinnett County Public School's Teachers as Leaders program (TAL), designed to enhance leadership skills in and beyond the classroom. She now co-leads the TAL program at her local school. Her work at Right Research, LLC includes curriculum development, project management, and educational technology. In addition, she supports consultants' in researching and reviewing curriculum standards,  developing outcomes, and determining strategies for measuring effectiveness.
