    This page contains helpful information and resources for schools, colleges, and nonprofit organizations offering educational services. Many of these resources are critical to the work we do, as well as many of our clients.     Data Repositories
    The National Center for Education Statistics

    The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences. NCES fulfills a Congressional mandate to collect, collate, analyze, and report complete statistics on the condition of American education; conduct and publish reports; and review and report on education activities internationally. 

    U.S. Government Open Data Source

    Data.gov is managed and hosted by the U.S. General Services Administration. Under the OPEN Government Data Act, which is Title II of the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act, government data is required to be made available in open, machine-readable formats, while continuing to ensure privacy and security. Find data, tools, and resources to conduct research, develop web and mobile applications, design data visualizations, and more.

    DataLab (Institute of Education Sciences)

    Online table and regression maker tools featuring 30+ federal education datasets. Contains three powerful tools for your analytical needs: QuickStats – Allows novice users to create simple tables and charts; PowerStats – Allows researchers to create complex tables and logistic and linear regressions; and TrendStats – Allows researchers to create complex tables spanning multiple data collection years. Also, contains the Tables Library which houses 5000+ published analysis tables by topic, publication, and source.

    The National Association of Independent Schools

    The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) is a nonprofit membership association that provides services to more than 1,800 schools and associations of schools in the United States and abroad, including more than 1,500 independent private K-12 schools in the U.S.

    Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System

    IPEDS data are submitted at the aggregated-level from postsecondary institutions and do not have student-level information. Institutions submit data through 12 interrelated survey components about general higher education topics for 3 reporting periods. Data includes 12-month enrollment, academic libraries, admissions, completions, fall enrollment, finance, graduation rates, human resources, institutional characteristics, outcomes measures, and student financial aid.

    NAIS Independent School Facts at a Glance

    The Independent School Facts report collected from NAIS members provides statistical data on enrollment, admission, tuition, financial aid, staff, teacher salaries, income, expenses, and annual giving, among others. Data are collected from the Data and Analysis for School Leadership (DASL) surveyThe data collection is conducted to collect key comprehensive independent school data on a variety of topics. Because this is a collaborative effort, it will reflect standard definitions shared by all DASL associations and collect data for participating associations in one place.

    Common Core of Data

    The Common Core of Data (CCD) is the Department of Education's primary database on public elementary and secondary education in the United States. CCD is a comprehensive, annual, national database of all public elementary and secondary schools and school districts.

    The Private School Universe Survey

    NCES has made the collection of data on private elementary and secondary schools a priority. The purposes of this data collection activity are; (a) to generate biennial data on the total number of private schools, teachers, and students; and (b) to build an accurate and complete list of private schools to serve as a sampling frame for NCES surveys of private schools.
